Exercise: run light user research

This is practice for your Module 1 app topic. You do not need a lab — a form, two video calls, and a short doc are enough.

What to collect

Aim for a small but real sample. Quality of questions matters more than a huge count.

  • At least 10 survey responses (Google Forms or any form tool).
  • At least 2 user interviews on a video call or in person.
  • Notes on emotions and follow-ups you asked during interviews.

What to write in the summary

  • Who you talked to (count, rough demographics).
  • Process — how they do the job today.
  • Pain points — ranked if you can.
  • Wishlist — features or facilities they asked for.
  • One key insight that links motivation to your business goal.

How to know you are done

A teammate should understand the main pain and the key insight without hearing your interview recordings.

  • Survey and interview counts meet the minimums above.
  • Findings are written as patterns, not a dump of every answer.
  • One insight sentence you could put on a sticky note.
  • Same tidy font as your competitor report so both sit in a portfolio.
